A Stepping Stone Club

EUROPA Point have strengthened our options ahead of the second half of the season with the signing of four players from reigning Premier League Champions, Europa FC plus two other rising stars.
The quartet from Europa FC are all Gibraltarian and this move presents them with the opportunity to play regular, competitive football at a good level, which in turn benefits all concerned and fits into our philosophy.
Carl ‘Colin’ Machin is 24 years of age and his favoured position is full-back, whilst Tom Hastings and Stefan Oliva are 25 year-old central defenders and Aidan Casey is an accomplished 27 year-old midfielder.
They are joined by Antonio Fernandez Sabastro ‘Nono’, 21, who arrives at the club from FC Boca Juniors and can play in midfield plus lively striker, Ruben Palmero Rojas, a 19 year-old who was previously with Atletico Zabal and front-runner, Adrian Golpe, who returns to the club.
“I am happy with the quality that we have been able to add to the squad with these signings,” said manager, Juan Francisco Fernandez Molina. “They are young and hungry to play football; they can also play in a number of different positions, which will be a big benefit to us in the battles ahead.
“The average age of our squad is 22 and that is the philosophy we want to implement. We want to be able to give emerging Gibraltarian players a chance to play regularly at a good level, which will be the case with the players that have come in from Europa, whilst Palmero and Adrian are young lads who will improve the team whilst we help to improve their game.
“We are also hopeful of completing another couple of signings shortly as we awaiting confirmation.”
We get back into action on Sunday with a game against Angels on the new Victoria Stadium pitch (kick-off 6.30pm). Come and show your support!
