CASEY EAGER TO GET STARTED

06 February 2018

AIDAN Casey is one of four Gibraltarian players who have recently joined the club from reigning Premier Division Champions, Europa FC.
The 27 year-old is a versatile performer who brings plenty of higher level know-how to the team.
“I am delighted to have joined Europa Point and can’t wait to play my first game,” he said. “I have seen the team play on a number of occasions and I know that there is plenty of quality amongst the squad, which has been further enhanced by the new signings that have come in recently.
“The lads seem extremely motivated and determined to secure promotion back into the Premier Division.
“There is a good atmosphere amongst the squad and now I want to be able to show what I can do on the pitch.
“I’ll be working as hard as I can both in training and matches to help this club get to where it wants to be. Hopefully my experience in the League above can help us plus my versatility because I can play in a number of different positions, although I do prefer right-back.”
Casey started playing football from a young age with Gibraltar FC, where he stayed for ten years before making the move to Lions at the age of 18 and giving them good service.
It was following the successful UEFA application that he joined Europa FC and helped them progress to become Premier Division Champions last term.
“I have always enjoyed playing football,” he added. “This move gives me the opportunity to play regularly at a good level with a forward-thinking and ambitious club.
“Also having a number of players alongside me that I already know will help me hit the ground running.
“My main aim is to play my part in helping Europa Point gain promotion.”
Joining the club from Europa FC alongside Casey is Carl ‘Colin’ Machin plus central defenders Tom Hastings and Stefan Oliva.
They are joined by Antonio Fernandez Sabastro ‘Nono’, 21, who arrives at the club from FC Boca Juniors and can play in midfield plus lively striker, Ruben Palmero Rojas, a 19 year-old who was previously with Atletico Zabal and front-runner, Adrian Golpe, who returns to the club.
Our next action takes place on Thursday evening when we lock horns with FC Olympique in the second round of the Gibtelecom Rock Cup second round (kick-off 8.30pm).
Come and show your support as we step out on the new Victoria Stadium playing surface for the first time.
