EUROPA Point made it into the next round of the Rock Cup courtesy of a deserved 3-1 victory over College 1975.
We came out of the blocks in a positive fashion and saw plenty of the early ball before Ben fired us in front on the quarter-hour mark.
It was a deserved lead and we had chances to double our advantage before the break but we weren’t clinical enough in front of goal.
The second period started in much the same vein and it didn’t take long for Pepe to make it 2-0.
This was the signal for us to make several changes to the team as we looked in control, however, our opponents were able to reduce the arrears to set up a tense final 15 minutes as they pushed for a leveller.
We managed to hold firm to frustrate our opponents before notching a third goal right at the death when Nono was able to guide the ball home and with it secure our place in the second round.
“There were good aspects of our play but at the same time we know that there is more to come from us,” admitted manager, Juan Francisco Fernandez Molina. “I was pleased with the way in which we battled until the very end to take our place in the next round.
“It’s eight matches without defeat for us now, which is a good record. We’re well placed in the League and into the next round of the Rock Cup, so there is plenty for us to be positive about and plenty of us to build upon in the next stage of the season.”
